Tantra
Author: Larae
Tantra like Yoga or Zen, is a path to enlightenment, which has its roots in India. It is nicknamed the `science of ecstasy` and focuses on heightening and prolonging the special awareness and rapport that exists between lovers during lovemaking. This view holds that the greatest source of energy in the universe is sexual, and places high value on ritualized intercourse. Sexual orgasm is seen as a cosmic and divine experience.

Tantric philosophy also teaches that everything is to be experienced playfully, yet with awareness and a sense of sacredness in every gesture, every sensory perception, and every action. The path of Tantra is a spiritual one, which includes and appreciates the experience of our sexuality and sensuality as a conscious meditation, as a flowing together of the physical, erotic and cosmic energies. If you were a devoted student of tantric philosophy, you would go through an extensive program of physical, sexual and mental exercises to heighten your sensory awareness. Through slow and thoughtful practice in lovemaking techniques you would learn to comfortably extend the time of lovemaking. In this way you would train yourself to be aware of not only your own feelings but also those of your partner. The spiritual part of tantra is to use your sexual energy to merge ecstatically with your partner and through him or her to become one with the cosmos or god.

The aim of Tantric Art is to express our connection to the universe through visual symbols and metaphors. The human body is represented as a symbol of the universe, Kundalini and the Chakras being the most important concepts. Tantra has developed a system of thought which makes us see the universe as if it were within ourselves, and ourselves as if we were within the universe. Further the forces governing the cosmos on the macro-level are believed to govern the individual in the micro-level. According to tantra, the individual being and universal being are one. Thus all that exists in the universe must also exist in the individual body. One of our major limitations in discovering this essential unity between the microcosm and the macrocosm is that we are accustomed to analyse the world into its separate parts, with the result that we lose sight of those parts of inter-relationship and their underlying unity. The way to fulfillment is through recognition of our wholeness linking man and the universe. This hence is the broad aim of Tantra art, achieved through visual symbols and metaphors. Representation of the Human Body as a Symbol of the Universe.

In Tantric thought the human body is visualized as a microcosm of the universe. It is believed that the complete drama of the universe is repeated in this very body. The whole body with its biological and psychological processes becomes an instrument through which the cosmic power reveals itself. According to tantric principles, all that exists in the universe must also exist in the individual body. If we can analyse one human being, we shall be able to analyse the entire universe. The purpose is to search for the whole truth within, so that one may realize one`s inner self, unfolding the basic reality of the universe. A Tantra text says: `He who realizes the truth of the body can then come to know the truth of the universe`. The two most important concepts associated with the human body are the chakras and Kundalini. In addition to helping realize the abstract conceptions of Tantra in visual terms, they reveal to the spiritual seeker the deepest truths of Tantric philosophy through metaphors and symbols.

Tantric Sex
Author: Larae
Tantric sex is meditative, spontaneous and very intimate lovemaking. You learn to prolong the act of making love and to focus on, rather than dispel, potent orgasmic energies moving through you, thereby raising the level of your consciousness. Tantra transports sexuality from simply doing to actually being. There is no end goal in Tantric sex, only the present moment of an ideal, harmonious union. Tantra teaches you to worship your sexual partner and to transform the act of sex into a sacrament of love. Lovemaking between two partners, when entered with awareness, can be a gateway to sexual and spiritual ecstasy alike. Tantric sex attempts to awaken powerful psychic energies within through which we can enter into higher states of consciousness.

Tantric Vampire
Author: Larae
Tantric Vampire is actually a misnomer for sexual vampirism. Many in the community exploit this label as a representation of their claims to be limited to drawing and feeding upon the energy that is produced through sexual engagement through the means of a singular or multitude of donors. There is usually very little love attached and lust, power, and control are typically the driving force.

Tantra is a sacred practice. Sacred defined is: 1. Dedicated or devoted exclusively to a single use, purpose, or person. 2. devoted or dedicated to a deity or to some religious purpose; consecrated. 3. regarded with reverence

Tantra philosophy does not endorse draining your partner sexually. Tantra is about balancing your sexual energy and being one, not only with your partner, but with the universe, with love. If you are taking that energy away from your partner, or have many casual encounters with multiple partners to satiate your need to feed without love for that person, you are not practicing tantric philosophies at all and are therefore, not a tantric vampire. Tantra and Sexual Vampire are not interchangeable. Tantra on a vampirisitic level simply does not exist. Please See other terms for Tantra for a more in depth description or the references provided below.

The Nephilim
Author: LadyBlak
The Nephilim are believed to be by some in the community, demi-human beings that were sired by angels, as related in Enoch I, a book that was dropped from the Bible in the early stages of its canonization. Some Nephilists believe that the vampyric condition is genetically traceable to these otherworldly fathers. Others are content to suggest that the Nephilim simply represent a higher kind of being which came down and intermingled with humanity. As far as the beliefs of the second order of Nephilists are concerned, vampyres experience their condition because they are more spiritual than most beings, with a higher vibration or frequency to their spirit which somehow burns their bodies out quicker and makes it necessary to feed. Some Nephilists feed upon blood, while many others feed primarily upon life-energy. Most seem to incorporate blood into their magick and ritual. **taken from the V book
