Title: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on April 30, 2008, 04:32:13 PM I thought I'd tell about my new found hobby. Listening for hidden messages in songs, often masked by recording it backwards. I know it sounds a bit dull, but some people collect garden gnomes...
This far I've found the following songs contained such messages: Cradle of Filth-Dinner at Deviants Palace. That one came easy, as a friend of mine actually told me the whole song is recorded backwards. It sounds like some ambient noises with some weird throat sounds. But when you play it backwards, you vaguely hear the Lord's Prayer. Pantera-Avoid the light(song is not on any album, as subliminal messages are illegal in a couple of States. ). This one is extremely clear when you reverse it. At about thirty seconds into the song, you hear: “ Satan's wrath is the only choice, his stillborn army is impeccable ”. These kinda came to me, but I do know of some songs by various Metal bands that have these weird throat noises. Who knows...I might find out Nightwish is evil! Lol Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: BobbyT on April 30, 2008, 06:15:32 PM If you really want to have some fun, get a digital voice recorder and start recording people in every day conversations. You can find a phenomenon called reverse speech.
If anyone wants to hear the best back mask ever, click this link. It is safe, the back mask comes from the B52s, and is legit. You will have to scroll down to the B52s and play detour through your mind rev. http://www.backmaskonline.com/index.php?page=pop Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on April 30, 2008, 06:26:41 PM That one was hilarious!
"I`ve burried my parakeet in the back yard". LOL. I`ll try recording my friends in conversations, I am wondering what I would hear. Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: BobbyT on April 30, 2008, 08:19:36 PM it is an interesting subject. Here is a good website to get you started on learning about reverse speech...
http://www.reversespeech.com/home.htm Also Paranomal.about.com has some good info on it. Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on April 30, 2008, 08:55:15 PM I already found that first site by Googling reverse speech. Very interesting.
If it really works as well as claimed, I think it has great potential in law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Poppy on April 30, 2008, 09:36:44 PM Ok. That's a bit scary. :agoraphobia:
Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: BobbyT on May 01, 2008, 03:15:26 PM I find it quite interesting. The Arnold one, I think says something a little different than what the people at the site thinks it says.

The Arnold one, I think says something a little different than what the people at the site thinks it says. She did not breath at all? What I made of it... Quite bizarre soundcapture from the " Terminator " eitherway. Edit: I just thought of something. The guy is born in a German speaking country, and might still be thinking in German. Sounds logical, as I still think in Afrikaans after living here for almost 9 years. I`ll ask a Swiss buddy of mine what he hears. :) Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: BobbyT on May 01, 2008, 06:15:02 PM To me it sounds like he is saying "I will beat them all." Which fits with the political nature of the speech. But you could just as easily be right.
Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Melissa on June 05, 2008, 01:49:32 PM I remember in the early 80's sitting in my room with my record player and listening to some albums backwards. Lots of them just gave me the creeps! lol Here's a listing and some information on the most popular backmaskings.

It is sometimes quite creepy. I recently listened to a Nightwish song named "The poet and the pendulum" and what I heard was rather bizzare. I wouldn`t post it here as it contains rather graphic language, but I`ll just say its spooky stuff. :) Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on June 06, 2008, 11:04:02 AM I never knew that that actually does happen.. I just thought it was an urban myth. That's very interesting..
Reverse Speech is as well.. Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: alwaysnight on June 06, 2008, 11:11:30 AM I remember in the late 70's early 80's having to burn all my records. My Mother went to a church that played songs from different bands backwards so we could "hear the evil" in the music. My Mom freaked and made me burn them.
I find it interesting that bands do this. I mean how many people really think to listen to them in reverse? Other than a very few. I am going to have to check mine out. Some are a little freaky. Do you think that these messages can get to the subconscious? Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on June 06, 2008, 11:21:26 AM Yikes! I`m glad my parents are not that extreme. :)
Do you think that these messages can get to the subconscious? No, I don't think so. I think its just a way for bands to dodge censoring. Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: alwaysnight on June 06, 2008, 11:29:18 AM Very interesting hobby you have taken up Wilhelm. You could stay busy for quite a long time.

Do you think that these messages can get to the subconscious? Oh yes, I remember the record burning! Many parents were forcing their kids to burn their records or taking them away from them. I had my records taken away from me, but that was because I was caught smoking! lol Not because of backmasking. I think when it comes to backmasking, you hear what you want to hear, or whatever you expect to hear. Some bands do it purposely while others do not. I don't think it can get into the subconscious either. Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Poppy on June 06, 2008, 02:45:13 PM I never worried about it. It's an interesting concept though.
Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on June 06, 2008, 03:31:40 PM I`ve been doing this for about a month now, and I can assure you all, I have not yet killed anyone in name of the Dark Lord.
Its great fun, and sometimes rather weird. But never boring. :) Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: TwistedIllusion on June 12, 2008, 11:18:48 AM Sounds pretty damn interesting. Got me looking into it too... >:D
Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on June 12, 2008, 06:41:09 PM One I recently got pointed at by a buddy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgTAekO8Zek Its not extremely clear, but still..Kinda cool. :) Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Nicholas on June 12, 2008, 09:22:50 PM Lol If the lyrics added up better, it seems like not a bad tune.
Title: Re: Subliminal messages/Backmasking Post by: Aquilus on June 13, 2008, 08:26:32 AM LOL. Yeah, it doesn't sound that bad. :)
Edit* I just noticed that my 100th post was Led Zeppelin's Stairway to heaven backwards... It scares me.... Kind regards, Wilhelm
