Title: Magickal Tools Post by: Melissa on September 04, 2007, 03:31:01 PM Do you feel it's absolutely necessary to use or have all the magickal tools such as, an Athame, Wand, Broom, Chalice, Pentacle and Cauldron?
Please explain. Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: London on September 04, 2007, 05:36:25 PM Melissa, I don't think that its necessary, but it helps. I believe that magic can be truly effective, no matter how much or little tools you have as long as you are focused and sincere about what your doing.
Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: TwistedIllusion on September 04, 2007, 05:53:00 PM The use of tools really have no meaning to me. I usually just think about what I want done and go from there. I guess that I take the meditation stand point of it all. Although I do use magical items, the tools really make no never mind to me because I can just make them if need be. (Make sense? man I hope so.)
Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: TwilightShade on September 04, 2007, 07:31:28 PM To me the tools are just symbols. They are something that appeals to the part of our mind that has nothing to do with logic. They also can provide a focus.
I don't think they are necessary to workings, but I do think they help. They can be replaced with other things, though. I also believe they help some people more than others. Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: Dade on September 04, 2007, 08:51:24 PM I'd like to have some. Books for sure, so I don't feel like I'm winging it. Some of the statues are gorgeous. But do I need them? The Mother and Father only ask for what is in your means to do. They know where your heart is.

Please explain. Honestly, I don't think its necessary to use all those items. They're great if they help one to channel energy, but they are not necessary. I believe nature gives you everything you need, but again, its a personal preference thing too. I honestly associate those items mostly with a Wiccan path though, and I'm more of an eclectic green witch. :) Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: Goth on September 29, 2007, 04:14:50 AM Do you feel it's absolutely necessary to use or have all the magickal tools such as, an Athame, Wand, Broom, Chalice, Pentacle and Cauldron? Please explain. Not at all. These are tools used in order to help us focus on our magick, they are not the magick itself. The 'real' magick comes from within. I own a broom. It looks lovely on my kitchen wall, and that's where it's stayed ever since I bought it lol. I do, however, have a cauldron that I use on a regular basis...mainly for cooking. Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: ResplendentSeraphim on October 01, 2007, 09:27:50 PM I do not have all of those. The only thing I recall having is a pentegram, which I keep in my jewelry box of memento objects. ;-) I respect what the symbol represents, but I have not worn a holy symbol of any kind in a while. I may though get another a Kali yantra, or something similar.
When I get into formal practices in the future, I may use nothing more than incense and a statuette maybe, and my mantras/incantations. ;-) These are the objects of focus I think I will need. Sincerely, ResplendentSeraphim Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: Goth on October 03, 2007, 04:16:58 AM ( Goth) LOL ;D *Looks innocent* Wha......? ::) It does look lovely on my wall! *Whistles* LOL. If I need to do a little 'cleansing', I find my vacuum cleaner does a far better job! ;D ;) Title: Re: Magickal Tools Post by: Aquilus on October 03, 2007, 04:37:21 AM I don't think it's necessary, however, I do find it to be a tool or asset in magical applications. Growing up many of us are somewhat conditioned by media to think that magic and spell casting, etc is just fantasy and make belief, when in fact it has been very real for me all my life. I think because of that, that the ritualistic or traditional methods of using or utilizing tools such as stones or crystals, cauldrons , whatever, can have a positive influence on a healthy psyche that has undergone strain in the process of conditioning of what not to believe is possible. I think that for some, it helps bridge the gap emotionally and helps to separate every day actions and significant actions in a practice that may take more concentration then some are used to. I view it as a tool, and although I feel able to practice my own productive methods within my mind, I wouldn't want to separate from my tools.
