The whole thing just screams shallow to me, but I'm just a guy.  What do I know?  Grin

I have mixed feelings about the current ideals of beauty.  While I am guilty of being attracted toward the 'frail and vulnerable' look on females or even males, I also am not attracted to most blonds. So, I cannot say I am fully against the current ideals for beauty since I am guilty of having my own standards of what I find beautiful.  In addition to this, I also see beauty in shapes and sizes...so, even though I am guilty of finding certain things in the 'trends' attractive, I also try to find beauty in the deviations from the trends.

However, at the same time, I also believe beauty to be something that has many faces.  Physical, personality, etc. are all aspects of beauty for me.  Many of the men I dated were not always your 'sinewy' or 'buff' figure and many of them were far more overweight than I am...so, while I may have my personal preferences in terms of physical beauty, I see beauty with many more faces than the physical faces.

Interesting enough, Marilyn Monroe wore the same pants size that I do right now.  She would probably be considered 'fat' for today's standards of beauty, because it seems that a lot of people prize the American size of three or below.

Sincerely,

Perhaps, it depends of trends of a certain period and none of us are exempt from having such feelings and attractions; finally we belong to a society or as Aristotle wrote: "Hence it is evident that a city is a natural production, and that man is naturally a political animal, and that whosoever is naturally and not accidentally unfit for society..." http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext04/tgovt10.txt
