There are a few psy vampires that tend to feed on the elements, a wind storm, lightening, thunder storms, or all things in nature.
If you have ever tried this, please explain your experience with it. Did it sustain you enough, or is this something you do when a donor is not available to you?

I enjoy feeding from lightning, and thunder storms.  It is not as satisfying as a room full of people, my favorite source of feeding.  Since I live in the country, and there is not always a steady supply of people, it can be a secondary source.  I do not find wind pleasant.  It makes me nervous, and I find it very irritating.  It puts me so much on edge, that I will snap at someone for the smallest infraction.

I also love the full burst of energy from a good summer storm. As a Witch also, the wind has long been an easy friend for me. We were taught at an early age how to "push" it and control it, (much the way some children are taught to focus a candle flame.)

I love crowds of people, but I do not get the same sense of calm that I get from "natural feeding". The Earth and all Her creatures are a ready source of energy. Though it is difficult at first to learn the different "rhythms" of nature. All energy vibrates. Elemental sources are a different frequency than human ones. So the feeling isn't the same.

Where Am I?

I have much experience in this feeding method, I have many beautiful landscapes in which to draw energy from. I primarily take energy from the Ocean, I feel this is best after the summer energizes the ocean. Ocean energy leaves me with a calming effect which keeps me balanced, it is a nice supplement and can actually be effective enough to sustain myself. Other elements I try to take advantage of are the Hurricanes which pass through here over the seasons, these are quick and instant energy but I find they cause me to have headaches and be hyperactive. It is in my opinion that elemental energy can be just as sustaining as psychic donor feeding if done effectively.

I found this thread interesting and I learned something new tonight. I have had similar experiences to that which Nickolas has mentioned, calmness when at the ocean or hyperactivity around a hurricane, especially if I know it is going to hit directly over my area. I always thought it was just me being in tune with nature, but now it got me thinking about a few things about myself. I would like to know more and see more of everyone's responses

Being one who lives in more of a natural area, away from the usual fare of city life or even better put an urban setting, I can personally appreciate the differences between elemental sources of energy and natural sources as compared to the qualities of persons and the effects of a city setting. I’ve lived in both, so I’ll refer to both if I may when discussing elemental energy and its effects though my take is broad. Having experienced both the benefits and the drawbacks of both as well and by witnessing many self reports by individuals who do find the charged atmosphere of the urban setting to be one that they find beneficial, it certainly remains apparent that it has its attractiveness in many respects. One quality that I always found was the wide range and sometimes volatile range and intensity to the energy that alluded itself in so many places and as I always liked to refer to it, in so many colors. Sometimes the energies could be rather pastel and passive and meek in their form, and other times they present as strong, bold and striking and certainly did carry the same in terms of effect. Often times, such as in a club, a theater or a concert, the intensity was so bold, the coming away from the areas and people took on the quality of a substance as harsh as that might sound to some people. The simile though in my own experience is at times appropriate, though certainly not the rule for everyplace and at all times. As with everything, places and people do carry their differences on a wide scale and should be considered as such. Though often it is the extremes that more often get commented, probably due to the nature and properties of these extremes in the lives of people.

Elemental energies do seem to carry a particularly different effect regardless of where they present themselves. I find them different in terms of their colors and their effect where I live now in and amongst nature as opposed to the effects in an urban landscape. As others have commented, I find that elemental sources of energy become less factored, less filtered and diverse of both color and intensity in this area as opposed to in an urban setting. Energy as has been spoken of so often by so many has a distributable nature to it and it allots itself to everything and everyone. I find the clean and harmonic quality to the energy here to be directly effected by all the living things that surround each other here, the trees, the land, the animals, the people and so on. In part the filtered quality that so many people comment on is in part probably due to the effects of the recycling and filtering of various energies all around us.  Much like a colander strains the water from a batch of spaghetti although that is a rather poor example. The effect does carry through though.

Being acquainted with some Eastern methods of energy work I also naturally draw from the thinking that everything passes energy from, in and through itself and then returns states of energy that remain unused or wasted along for other uses out of and beyond itself. Much like the flow of energy into a tree that flows through the leaves, passes down into the living forces of the branches and limbs and then down into the trunk finally exiting through the roots and back into the Earth. All living things in part utilize energy in this manner, while all things are affected by states of energy in some form, even rocks, dirt and the sea and the lakes and so on. Nothing is exempt and elemental sources of energy exhibit this basic nature to and for life. The charged qualities to lightening, storms and the wind while being more pure forms of energy can tend to exhibit the properties and volatile qualities of their surroundings. This probably being one of the reasons some people comment on how different a thunderstorm feels and even smells before and after in the country as opposed to a city, where the effect while being noticed can also be markedly different. Both have the properties of charged energy that are both felt and can impact those sensitive to the effects, but the colors of the energy do carry differences that many people feel distinctively. Often the types of differences that make some people truly take stark notice versus other people who hardly take notice at all.
I beg forgiveness for being a little bit wordy on this, but it did light off my thoughts.

A great thinking topic!

Peace>

Personally, I'm frightened by the thought of taking energy from another person, at least without their expressed permission, even though I may be in a bus full of people and am feeling drained by the sun etc, I can't. I either hide from the sun in the mornings and late afternoons, or "breathe in" (with asking, of course) the energy of a nearby potted plant, or patch of grass, trees, and so forth.

I'm sure you've guessed that I live in a city where there's more concrete than nature. I'm currently formulating a plan to revisit a safe canyon some friends of mine found, where we went to enjoy nature in general, for a proper time of peace and recovery, not to mention clarity of mind.

As for sang feeding, I've only felt the thirst for it a few times. Energy feeding is much easier right now anyways..

I can see where it would frighten you to think about feeding off of others without their consent. But for some of us it is not an option. It is hard to stop drawing off of the elements and humans because our bodies naturally need a specific amount which we do not harness ourselves.
