Good morning/afternoon/evening. I am VampUK some of you will know me, others will not but I have been a member here on and off for a few years in that time I have contributed very little.
Well, time to make a large contribution to the scene or at least I hope with help it will be.
I am looking for writers, poets, artists and more for a new e-mag that I wish to set up and distribute for *free* via PDF.
I see my role as editor/designer, if I had time I would write articles etc. myself but then where would be the variety in that?
So I introduce to you "Dark Daze", a vampire/gothic e-mag.
I have already designed the first cover and details of the pages and even a free gift for the launch but now of course I need content, this is where I hope you can help.
I'm looking for articles on vampirism, gothic culture, music, films, anything that you can think of, poetry, original artwork, club/pub guides, history, witch craft, you get the picture. Smiley
One off articles are welcomed but regular contributers would be fantastic.
So there it is an offer of somewhere for your creativity to be published for all to see, maybe a regular column.
Views and ideas or offers of help can be left here or if you are shy or unsure you can PM me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
VampUK  I'm reading
Ooops nearly forgot I will post my first cover in a little while. Smiley

This is a project that we heavily support here at ADN.
We would love to see this get off the ground. If you are a creative writer or have written articles, please consider sharing your work and getting it published in this E-Zine.
I've known VampUK for quite a few years now, we have worked together in the past and I can guarantee you that he is a fair and honest person and all around great guy!

So, let's see some contribution to this project! Wink

Where Am I?

« Reply #2 on: April 07, 2008, 05:31:57 PM »

Very great idea, I really cannot wait to see how this comes together. I shall offer up my writings, take a look if you want. This are usually my submissions which are unedited but if you wish to use something give me a buzz and I will fix it... As long as the site supports it and proper credit is given you may use any of my poems.

Here is a quick link to some of my work: http://www.your-poetry.com/modules.php?name=Your_Account&op=userinfo&username=Vampire_Slander

It isn't great the more recent stuff seems to be the best, personally I know I'm not a great writer and my grammar/spelling usage is sometimes a tad bit...wrong but I think there may be something there if you look hard enough.

Melissa has been pumping up the Admin's for this and I must say that it sounds great.  This is the perfect platform for all of our creative members, and I know you're out there, to get recognized for something that you may, like myself, create and file away under eeeeh, whatever.  I personally look forward to corresponding more with you VampUK and again, strongly encourage our membership to jump in.  Opportunities such as this do not come around too often and I applaud Vamp UK for embarking on such an endeavor.

Awesome stuff. I am not a writer, so I can't offer much there. But if you ever want any photo work done I will try my best to make it happen. Well on second thought, I may be able to come up with something in the paranormal field, if you would be interested that is.

I would be more than happy to contribute, but my concern is that my current non-scholarly project is a novel and I do not think it would do justice to the wonderful idea you have.  It is a gothic fantasy novel and I do not think we could fit a novel in a magazine, heh.

At any rate, your idea sounds great and if I ever end up making some vampiric or gothic poetry, I will be sure to contribute (if I am worthy).

Sincerely,

I think it's a wonderful idea!

I am an artist. Perhaps I can use this as a prod to get me back to work. lol

Ok as promised yesterday, sneak preview of the cover.
Please bear in mind this is a WIP, also I need opinions on the font I will use, I've narrowed it down to two.
Cover http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v39/vampuk/?action=view&current=DarkDazeCover.jpg

And alternate font version. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v39/vampuk/?action=view&current=DarkDazeCoverAlt.jpg

I would like the second font better if not for the circles in the letters. If you have something similar without the circles that would work well with tattooing on the face.

I like the first one best. I like the clean look of the font. And I think it looks more professional.

I like the second one the best. I think it captures attention. To me the first is boring. *shrugs*

I'm with Bobby. I think that something similar to the second would be my taste.

The one issue I have with it is that I find the "Issue 0" to be difficult to read. Could you use something simpler for that line so it is easier to read?

Personally I like number 2 as well.  The font in the first one reminds me of a DC Comic.  The second is edgy and grabs your attention. Plus, as Bobby alluded to, the lines flow with the tattoo's.  Very cool cover art.

I also vote for the second font! And I would be more than willing to contribute in any way I can. I write dark erotica short stories and novellas, as well as poetry, songs, paint, etc... OK, if it's a right brained thing, I'm usually the first one in up to my elbows LOL!

Some of my stuff is here : http://houseprytania.com

and some of it is here :

I've been meaning to get it all together! Someday. * sighs *

Just as soon as I can tear my self away from my current projects. Wink Too many pies lately. Not enough fingers LOL! EEK!

Hey VampUK. I think I've been around almost as long as you have but took a long Hiatus there for a while and still only come on occasionally. But I would be willing to submit a tale or two to your publication. I also have a few more ideas of what I could do for you but am unsure of how much time I can commit so am hesitant to offer, maybe we can discuss it later.

Oh you knew me as Phedre from here and Kushiel from DE, both names are now retired, lol! I think you've read my stuff a long time ago when I used to post it around. My writing covers almost all genres and I know I have a few tales with vampires and witches in them. Even one with Psi and Sang vamps too.

Just let me know.

I can't vote on the covers because this computer is too slow for me to see them. When I have a chance on another one I will have a look see.

Hope to talk to you soon.

I would love to contribute. I write novels, novellas, short stories, etc.

I believe you are the VampUK who took pity on my talentless self and did my character Riordan for me.

I sent you a PM, so whenever you get the time, please let me know what you need.

Ok, I'm finally clear and have the time to unleash issue 0 which will be kind of a beta release, if it gains enough interest then we have a regular publication on our hands.
To save me time could all the people who offered input please PM me.

Yes, please private message VampUK again, when the private messages were cleared out at the end of last month, I totally spaced off the PMs sent to Vampy for this project.
My mistake!
