I really like his movies although I know a lot of people don't.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0796117/My favorites of his are The Village and Lady in the Water.
I think that his movies get bad 'previews' if that makes sense. They build them up like they are these horrifying horrors and I just don't see them as being that. They can be a bit creepy but mostly, the part I like the best, is that they make you think, they make you work to find the answer to whatever the riddle is this time around and that 'in my opinion' is rare these days with so many big blockbusters telling you like you're an idiot exactly what is going on. It's ok to leave things to the viewers imagination and I like the movie better when they do.
So for me the first time I saw The Village, it was a let down, mainly because I was expecting 'scary' and it really wasn't. I loved the fact that he managed to surprise me with the ending, few movie makers can do that. But at the same time, there is always the question of whether the monsters are real or not.
Lady in the Water, I think is just a beautiful story and for me it brought to mind how separate we really are from our neighbors. Sure we might know a few things and gossip about more but how many of us take the time to truly know them and befriend them. It often does take an outside act to force people to work together to find a common singular solution, and very few people can make that happen. I loved it, hmm, I think I'll watch it tonight.
I've seen Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense, I liked them but I'd have to see them again to truly understand them as I was with a rather poor movie partner at the time. I didn't even know that he wrote Stuart Little, and yes I've seen it, it's a good kids show.
As for the rest, I'm looking forward to watching them anew or again.
What does everyone else think about his work?
I feel the tingle of life.
It begins with contact,
Between my foot
And the blood red dirt.
