I may be new to this whole vampire community/subculture, but why is it that most of the vampiric houses I've come across have ties to Egypt, in name if nothing else? As far as the modern worship of the ancient Kemetic religion goes, many of the beliefs held by modern vampires are in direct conflict. A belief in reincarnation, for example, is directly against kemetic thought. Otherkinism is against Kemetic thought as well, and I would imagine that the draining of an individual's life force by any means would also be against the principals of Ma'at. Why then does there exist such a connection? If anyone could shed some light on this, that'd be lovely.

I have noticed that many have strong leanings toward a modernised version of Kemetic thought.
I can't shed any light on the reason's though. Perhaps someone else here can.

My own personal theory:

The civilization of ancient Kemet spanned many centuries and was undoubtedly even more complex than our current knowledge of it suggests.

It would follow that many subcultures flourished, at least for a time. So there would have been no shortage of groups whose belief system was quite different from, if not in direct opposition to, the domonant paradigm of that era.

If one goes on the assumption that modern groups (such as the Kheprians for example,) are indeed viable and therefore connected to a spiritual lineage, then we have modern groups who choose to connect with facets of ancient Kemet that will probably never make it into print in any modern publication.

Then of course there are the many groups who go with an ancient Kemetic theme because it's so cool.  Roll Eyes
