I thought I'd tell about my new found hobby. Listening for hidden messages in songs, often masked by recording it backwards. I know it sounds a bit dull, but some people collect garden gnomes...

This far I've found the following songs contained such messages:

Cradle of Filth-Dinner at Deviants Palace. That one came easy, as a friend of mine actually told me the whole song is recorded backwards. It sounds like some ambient noises with some weird throat sounds. But when you play it backwards, you vaguely hear the Lord's Prayer.

Pantera-Avoid the light(song is not on any album, as subliminal messages are illegal in a couple of States. ). This one is extremely clear when you reverse it. At about thirty seconds into the song, you hear: “ Satan's wrath is the only choice, his stillborn army is impeccable �.

These kinda came to me, but I do know of some songs by various Metal bands that have these weird throat noises. Who knows...I might find out Nightwish is evil! Lol

If you really want to have some fun, get a digital voice recorder and start recording people in every day conversations. You can find a phenomenon called reverse speech.

I already found that first site by Googling reverse speech. Very interesting.

If it really works as well as claimed, I think it has great potential in law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Ok. That's a bit scary.

I find it quite interesting. The Arnold one, I think says something a little different than what the people at the site thinks it says.

Edit: I just thought of something. The guy is born in a German speaking country, and might still be thinking in German. Sounds logical, as I still think in Afrikaans after living here for almost 9 years.

I`ll ask a Swiss buddy of mine what he hears.

To me it sounds like he is saying "I will beat them all." Which fits with the political nature of the speech. But you could just as easily be right.

I remember in the early 80's sitting in my room with my record player and listening to some albums backwards. Lots of them just gave me the creeps! lol Here's a listing and some information on the most popular backmaskings.

It is sometimes quite creepy. I recently listened to a Nightwish song named "The poet and the pendulum" and what I heard was rather bizzare. I wouldn`t post it here as it contains rather graphic language, but I`ll just say its spooky stuff.

Reverse Speech is as well..

I remember in the late 70's early 80's having to burn all my records. My Mother went to a church that played songs from different bands backwards so we could "hear the evil" in the music. My Mom freaked and made me burn them.
I find it interesting that bands do this. I mean how many people really think to listen to them in reverse? Other than a very few.
I am going to have to check mine out. Some are a little freaky.
Do you think that these messages can get to the subconscious?

No, I don't think so. I think its just a way for bands to dodge censoring.

Very interesting hobby you have taken up Wilhelm. You could stay busy for quite a long time.

Oh yes, I remember the record burning! Many parents were forcing their kids to burn their records or taking them away from them. I had my records taken away from me, but that was because I was caught smoking! lol Not because of backmasking. I think when it comes to backmasking, you hear what you want to hear, or whatever you expect to hear. Some bands do it purposely while others do not. I don't think it can get into the subconscious either.

I never worried about it. It's an interesting concept though.

I`ve been doing this for about a month now, and I can assure you all, I have not yet killed anyone in name of the Dark Lord.

Its great fun, and sometimes rather weird. But never boring.
