An inquiry on Marriage.

Hello all.  Smiley

I am planning on finally getting married on the date of October 13. Now, what has taken Joseph and I so long to decide on a date is that we have no idea on how to go about it. I have been reading about Hand Fasting but I'm still not feeling that connection with the ritual that I want to feel to actually go about it. The only thing we know that we want to do is a sort of "Blood Brothers" thing, but I can't really go in depth about that sense this is in public view.

We're basically a mixture of beliefs, Wicca, Occult, we're both Vampyre's, you get the idea.. Smiley

My question is basically can anyone reference me to some books, give me their experience, or what they know on this? It would be greatly appreciated being as we are still at odds as to what is available out there.

Re: An inquiry on Marriage.

Most Unitarian Churches have some basic marriage rituals, you may want to look them up.

I agree. Try the Unitarian Universalists. They seem to be very open to most beliefs. I know of them including Paganism in their programs sometimes.

Re: An inquiry on Marriage.

I notice a lot of times when similar questions are asked. People don't usually respond. I think some people have or had a similiar ritual but are hesitant to give a lot information because the ritual is private and sacred to them. I think sometimes people look at it like this is what we did, it's special and it's ours and I'm not sharing.

I found a link that has different handfasting rituals on it that you may want to take a peek at: http://www.handfasting.info/h_rituals.html

Good luck hun, planning a wedding can be very stressful.

Thank you ^_^. It's driving me nuts, and I'm just beginning to think about it! lol

I was looking at the site, and there are some rituals that seem interesting.. I also am going to buy The Vampire Ritual book by Michelle Belenger.

Re: An inquiry on Marriage.

I have never had such a ritual myself, but I did go to one handfasting. In this case it was very loosely organized and the priestess was nude from waist up and the couple were nude. They jumped a broom after words were said and their hands were tied together with a red ribbon.

I could see where it could be a very meaningful ceremony, but I found this one lacked feeling (to me at least).
The energy just wasn't there.

Re: An inquiry on Marriage.

Really? That seems interesting to be a part of!
I am trying to find a way to combine certain rituals and make one that suites us.. it seems to be the only way to actually make us happy.
