As I go through my day there are times that I stop and feel a little confused about what action or decision to make.  There have even been times that I asked for advice. But I have found that at least for myself and within all of us I believe, a gauge that can be relied on for proper judgment in any situation. I ask myself the question:

"If it's the right thing to do, why would I question it?"

When I say 'right thing' I mean personally for me. 'Right' for me, might not be 'right' for you or anyone else. But there seems to be in side of us a compass for our own personal 'right'.

For instance, would I need to ask advice or have doubts about if I should open a door for someone holding many packages? No.  Would I have a doubt if I should show up for work on time? No to that too. But when faced with a situation that I wonder if it is the right thing to do, most times I have found for me, it really isn't.

Doubts can be my instincts or conscious telling me that regret might be around the corner.

Perhaps I should question why it is I'm questioning it.

A very wise friend recently told me always  trust your gut feeling. I have no doubt LB that your intuition will not steer you in the wrong direction. Sometimes a situation very well may require some thought. But a lot of times too much thought just over complicates. I would dare say the majority of the time you already know what to do.

I agree. Thinking about something past that initial feeling is basically me wanting to try to convince myself that my intuition is not right. Usually because I do not like what it is telling me.

You made me think of another topic lol.

One of your sisters with a cute evil nickname told me that.

Post away your new topic. But if I am making you think, you may want to seek help. Grin

Well....

That can be a hard thing sometimes. Speaking for myself, every so often I wonder if what I want to do is actually the correct thing, or simply laziness on my part. Sometimes I really don't wanna do something just because it's hard or messy or boring. But since I decide it is the right thing, I do it anyway.

If it just involves me, I agree, gut instinct is the best guide.  Most of the time when I second guess, though, it's because someone else is involved, and I may feel like it's the right thing for *me* to do, but I'm less sure it'll be the right thing concerning the OTHER person or people involved.
