They are ancient Chinese monks who follow Buddhism. Also very well known for their mastery of Kung Fu. There is a group that tours the country performing demonstrations and using that as a way to introduce people to their ways. They took up Kung Fu as a way to focus themselves physically and to defend their temples from invaders.

In this definition, I would call myself eclectic in my path and practices. There are certain philosophies and general pathways that I commonly return to due to instinctive and predatory nature, however, in being a formless figure so to speak, I have attempted to assimilate and progressed with different appendages from other practices and religions. I don't see myself as able to fit into one category or set up a believe system of faiths in one category altogether and because of that, I am unable to find the stimulants I require from one religion or practice alone...

Wow that is a broad definition.  I Consider myself more of a Trad but by that definition I would also fall under eclectic.  Trad's tend to use what works for them pulling from lots of area's and sources.  We tend to follow our own path with no one person's path being the only one or the only correct one.  I pull from any area of study that I think will work and always looking for more.

I guess I would be considered eclectic.  I am the most focused on Hinduism, but I am always open to new experiences so long as they do not contradict my core beliefs (that is, the concept of all gods being one God, etc).

Where Am I?

« Reply #16 on: November 02, 2007, 12:46:39 AM »

My path is very much influenced by Buddhist philosophy, It seems that somehow Buddhism sparked my ongoing journey into spirituality and shaped the basics of my belief system. I also take philosophy from Wiccan Religions, Polynesian Religions, Ancient African Tribal Religions, and Celtic Religions. It is a very diverse way of practice but it seems to suit me very well.

Many Blessings,
Nicholas

I consider myself an eclectic polytheist pagan with leanings towards Shamanism/animism.  The three pantheons I feel a connection to are Egyptian, Celtic, and Norse.
