I've heard people argue that the full moon has an effect on people while other's claim it does not.
What's your opinion on this?  Do you think people may act different during a full moon?  Do you think this is something just psychological or do you think it goes further then that?

I fully believe the moon can affect people. For one, it is strong enough to move the ocean. It may not be the moon itself, but the energy created and reflected by the moon. We are just beginning to learn about the universe and all of the dimensions around us.

I have been in the delivery ward of the hospital during a full moon and 2 weeks after. The weekend of the full moon the place was over run and they had to call in off duty nurses to help. 2 weeks later there were maybe 5 other expecting parent s delivering. The reason we were in there twice is because my wife went into early labor during the full moon. The hospital had to stop it. Then when the water broke 2 weeks later we returned and had the baby.

Great topic Mel.

If the moon can affect the ocean, then surely it can affect the blood in our veins and the chemicals in our brains. I notice the difference in myself when the moon is full or near full. My emotions run higher and things that normally wouldn't bother me are magnified. I think this would happen even if I were somehow totally unaware of the moon phases.

I also believe the full moon affects us. I don't know if it's psychological or if it goes deeper. But I've heard stories from my step dad who was a policeman in the military and I've also heard that stories from cops and state patrol who absolutely hate working on full moons. Especially in the summer or spring when you have a nice warm night.
Bobby, I've also heard about the effect of the full moon and pregnant women going into labor early.

I think it goes much further then that. Look into history a little and see where the word "Lunatic" came from. The only thing it really proves is people long before us thought so as well, but all legends come from somewhere.
If you live in the city sit on your porch and watch how people drive and act on a summer night with the moon full. Somethings goin on! Wink

Police and hospital staffing are usually higher during a full moon.

Back when I used to work with psychiatric patients we used to put on extra staff during the full moon, too.
