Do you guys think that entities exist in an actual building, or the space the building occupies? If the building was torn down would the entity go with the rubble from the building materials? Or would it still exist in the space/time where the building was, and if a new building is built in the space of the old one, would the entity be active in the new building?

From what I've heard, the entity would still be there even though the building was torn down.
I've heard stories of buildings/houses being haunted because of the patch of land it's build on and the entity has stuck around and when a new building or home is built and occupied, it will be haunted.  I don't think there really needs to be a building on piece a land for it to be haunted. For example, there's open fields in this country where the revolutionary war was fought that people have seen soldiers.  So, I would say, a buidling or home, isn't really necessary for a piece of land to be haunted.

Very good Mel. But do you think it is the land the entity is attached to? Or are they attached to that place in space/time?

Hmm...I would say it's attached to space or a time. I wouldn't think an entity would really realize what has changed on a peice of land. It's not really my field of experise, but from what I've heard, an entity will remain, no matter what happens on a piece of land.

Well I've read that most hauntings are unintelligent ones and are simply energetic recordings of a different time and place.  I don't think the destruction or remodeling of a building would stop that kind of haunting at all, since its simply a recording of times past.  And if the haunting were intelligent, I can't imagine an entity being promoted to leave a place due to remodeling or demolishing of the place it once inhabited.

Good answers, great stuff.

Mel, for not being your area of expertise, you have some great ideas on this topic.

Usually with intelligent hauntings a remodel stirs up the activity. Now with a residual type haunting, do you think it is a recording of an event playing over and over? Or some kind of tear in the fabric of space/time where you actually witness an event happen from start to finish, possibly as it is actually happening? One reason for this possibility is the theory that time is not linear as we perceive it.

If the string theory of physics is true, there are many more dimensions than we normally perceive. Perhaps we catch glimpses now and then...a sort of bleed over? I have wondered if this was an explanation for  "shadow people".

I have wondered if that is the reason for a lot of paranormal encounters.

Perhaps you should first ask: What IS space?  This is a touchy subject because the so called "Laws Of Physics" are not true laws, they are observations.
According to science nothing is real unless it can be proven real in a laboratory under controlled conditions. This is bad because it leaves gaps in what we know: what actually causes lightning? honest scientists will admit they do not know. Anything they cannot explain they call "preternatural", that we cannot explain this phenomenon-YET.

If we only perceive a portion of what is going on around us it would stand to reason anything and everything could be around us, that the space between myself and BobbyT may simply be no SPACE just a hardwired belief that there is a long distance between us.

Now consider that hypothesis, could it be that the human brain is a filter that blocks out the the whole of creation from our perceptions?
If this were the case what would be the dividing line between past and present, one dimension from another, between the realm of the dead and the realm of what we call the living? The human brain is a basic thing, as we know too well to much stimuli can throw a persons mind off kilter . We would all go insane if the universe was laid before us an all its multidimensional glory, H.P. Lovecraft understood this, he knew that we weren't supposed to know everything we want to.

So We have a world of over 6 billion stumbling around in a haze of self perception like puppets on Gods string. When people see hear or perceive anything that their senses SHOULD NOT allow them to, the first  thing that happens is that they are called crazy. Science does not approve of anyone disagreeing with the life long view that all is knowable and that we already have the framework figured out. But not everything is knowable: ignorance is not bliss, it is the order of the universe. The paranormal manifestations of Creatures, Ghost phenomenon and such is noticing more than we are suppose to know. To the question "Do Entities exist in a building or in the Space", I maintain that foremost it would be in the space. The structure of the building may have an unknown element that makes crossover inculsions more common, hence it being "Haunted". But we need to ask how much is being projected into that space and is not in fact occupying it.
Which goes back to my first point What IS Real Space? I have my theories (they are insufficient to amount to "truth", I know that no man or woman can know the Universe like its Creator) about the structure of human perceptions , I have alluded to them here make of them as you will.

Well said Darius. We really know so little about the true nature of the universe, time, and space. I believe all of the paranormal, entities, ufos, cryptozoology, etc., are all related. And humans just haven't quite got a handle on it all. And very well may not be evolved enough too yet. But as 2012 gets near and the next age of mankind begins that all may begin to change.

I think entities or spirits, if you will, are in a type of suspended animations of sorts. They are stuck in the specific time and place... Whether the building has been removed makes no never mind because the "soul" is struck and unable to move on. So in essence I believe the ground where the blood was stilt is haunted not the building itself. Not sure if this makes sense, lack of sleep...

The most recent episode of Ghost Hunters goes a long way towards eliminating an entity being tied to a building. The intelligent entity they were communicating with claimed to be one of the victims of the Manson murders. Since the original house is no longer there, that leaves only the land, or a point in time and space.

I found that episode quite interesting. The house they were studying was about 200 feet from where the actual murders too place, I believe.
I wonder if they were seeking someone who would be sensitive to them, or it was simply a random type of thing that they found this house and person.

It also showed the intelligence and the level of energy they had. To be able to lower the temperature of the room to exactly what they requested. Wow.

I believe the homeowner requested them to come out. And the entity didn't lower the temp. in the whole room. Just the area directly in front of Jay. Which shows an impressive amount of energy control.

Interesting topic! I believe it could be any number of things. I guess it all depends on the spirit or energy. I have had an entity follow me from apartment to apartment before, I think that was mainly because I opened a door I shouldn't have. I believe an entity could be attached to a certain spot of land but I have also heard of objects being haunted and that entity follows the object from place to place. I also have also heard of an entity doing the same thing over and over. I would think that is either an imprint of energy or something traumatic happened and they can't move on until they get closure and find peace.

I have always been intrested in the spirit world, funny though, since my grandmother passed away in March I am not sure what I think about it all. I have never lost a family member before. I really thought I would feel something, sometimes I think I do but then I think it may just be an overwhelming memory. My mother on the other hand has felt her.........and so have some of my aunts. Which brings another question to me, can an entity be in more then one place at once? Or maybe sometimes we have that ability to reach through and feel them where they are.

If's confusing, there are just so many possibilities and so many different things it could be. It's also funny how two people can be in the same room and one will feel or see something where the other person feels and sees nothing at all.

I agree also there are so many things that we don't have a handle on as far as the universe goes, I forget the percent but I know we use such a small part of our brain. Imagine if we could use the whole thing! I have found the older I get the harder it is for me to feel certain energies and things that are around me. I used to be very open. I think as we get older sometimes we get caught up in life and our brian is sort of trained what to accept and what to ignore. They say children are much more open to the spirit world. With some people though that link gets stronger as they get older.

Sorry if I started rambling, these kinds of subjects always get my brain working.

Kitty, I understand what you are saying about having a family member pass away and your ideas on the paranormal or afterlife, you start to kinda question. I've done the same myself.

I definitely believe we can feel when they are around us. Especially if you are somewhat sensitive to energy. But can an entity be in more then one place? Hmm..I'm not sure on this one. The only thing I can think of is something like an energy signature being left once the ghost/entity leaves. Hmm..that's a good question, maybe someone else *AHEM Bobby* has an opinion on that.

Uhh Mel, you rang dahling.

Since we know so truly little about how time and space and energy function, I say it is totally possible for an entity/spirit to be in more than one place at the same time. Something could be standing in your living room, crossing through a different dimension, and standing in a cemetary at the same time. The same way we can be standing half way through a doorway and be in the living room and kitchen of our home at the same time. There is also the possibility that an entity can leave a little part of itself somewhere while it roams the Earth. But what one part of the entity experiences, the whole being knows wherever it may be, however far apart the pieces may be. What we call an impression may be a living, functioning part of the spirit left behind to watch over you. Hope this helps some.
