Since the moon is about to be full I thought this an appropriate news article. Scientists report it is not werewolves that run wild during the full moon, but cats and dogs. The study suggest animals get more mischievous during certain cycles of the moon, especially when it is full. Explains why my kitten is more wound up than normal. I read one place the word "Lunatic" comes from the effect the full moon is believed to have on people...and I think the're right! Wink

They try to explain it away scientifically by saying it's because of the magnetic pull both the sun and moon have on the earth at the time of a full moon, but I think there's more to it then that. I don't believe science can explain all it thinks it can.

That is exactly right. Science has gotten arrogant. Making up explanations for things it does not have all of the answers to. And unwilling to change even when solid evidence is provided. In a way science has become a religion to some people.

I think in a lot of ways science has become religion (to many people).

Back when I worked in hospitals and with psychiatric patients we always put extra help on duty on the full moon.
My stepfather was a Detroit policeman and they also put extra staff on during full moon.

In spite of the fact that most that I have known that have worked in these jobs have seen an effect from the moon, science still will tell you it is myth.

All I can tell you is in my experience (and the experience of many I know) there is truth to it.

It's funny I was reading a book last night that had a very short chapter on the moon and describing it's role in witchcraft. It also went into detail on the manetic pull of the moon. But these ideas about the moon and it's affect on people according to the material I was reading last night goes way back to ancient times. During ancient times many believed that a women could become pregnant by sleeping nude beneath the full moon and awakening covered in the morning dew. In Christian Europe some held the belief that allowing the moonlight to fall upon a person while sleeping would bring about insanity. lol

Well it's like an introduction to Witchcraft really and describes the moon as it pertains to the craft. The author was just explaining the role the moon played in ancient times and then goes into how it pertains to witchcraft, it's just a short section, not really even a chapter. It's The Witches' Craft by Raven Grimassi.

Sounds like a book I need in general. Been re-reading all my craft books. Been out of pocket on some stuff.
