I was thinking about this and trying to figure out what non-vampyric folks would want that we have. Maybe I shouldn't say they want it 'from us' being that none of it is anything we can give away to anyone.

If you only look at the real vampyric 'gifts' or things we can do, and exclude all the myths and fantasies, the list would be small.

Sense of energy, being nocturnal, empathic sense, ability to draw energy off people to ease them or ourselves, maybe even being more in tune with the collective energy of all things, none of these things are unlike what others can, and do, do.

Certainly we have the ability to draw people to us, but that is not so different either.

Truly, when faced with what we have shared here on this forum about cravings and trying to find balance and control, being afraid to let those around us know what and who we are. I wonder what it is that others see that makes them want to be like us?

Even though I'm not a vampire, all the things mentioned I can do or will do. I suppose for me what I would "want" is to be more in tune with the collective energy of all things. Just a more advanced sense of the energies around me.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this question, and instead of just saying they are in love with the Hollywood icon, I thought about what makes up the icon. The vampire image is a rebel, independent, strong, and can sometimes be the suave gentleman/woman whose quick of wit leaves the audience in a swoon, just to name a few character traits. I think they want to be swooned and mix up fantasy with reality.

From what I can tell, what most want that they associate with vampires is the fantasy...the myth. Not the facts.
If most knew what it is really like, they may not be so fascinated.

I think that, even within the vampire community, we are seen as highly mysterious, erotic beings. That may be something that most would aspire to.
If only they knew we have to do laundry and scrub the bathroom just like any other person we might not seem so interesting. lol

I agree with Melissa. I would definitely "want" to be more in tuned with the energy of everything around me. Like to have another sense, such as the third eye(in reference to fortune-telling). I would know much more about my surroundings, and feel a sense of well-being with it.

Very interesting question.

Aside from what has already been said, which I find interesting because I assumed that others already had that. Nevermind.

I have much more experience with what they want from us in regards to "being with us or near us".

But what would others really want to have that we have soley as vampyres? Hmm. I keep hear the "We're off to see the wizard" song from The Wizard of Oz. Then..... "[the brain, the heart].... the nerve."

The "nerve" being the solely vampyric element.

This isn't to say that others don't have nerve or courage. It's just different- a certain audacity and panache that I've noticed in even the least "dramatic" of vamps.

Hope that makes sense.

....just my two cents.

I think some want what they can't have and others don't like who they are and want to be something they aren't in order to fit in, because it makes them feel stronger. Insecurities can be lethal to the psyche indeed...

In my words....the grass is always greener on the other side.
I think the Hollywood icon has mislead lots of younger people. After all who wouldn't want eternal life and power over others? To be in control of others on that level and able to fly off into the night and not be seen again by those you have hurt or have hurt you. But in real life it is nothing like that image of power and strength.

And have just as little power over many things in life as the non-vampires.
