This was originally posted over at DE, our sister site by Allin. I thought it was a great post and asked his permission to share it with you for your thoughts on the matter of seasonal change and the energy around you and how it affects you.

As the fields gather their seasonal fog, the evenings grow cooler and the eventual frost lays down its sheet, it’s difficult to argue the point that things around us do start to feel a bit different as Autumn slides into being. Yes, admittedly a lot of it all might be in a fanciful thought or two, but then after the thought, something does appear a bit different in the feel of the seasonal changes. The energy sparkles a bit more and this isn't to infer alone that with the drier air come greater charges of static amongst us. The senses do seem at times to be at a greater level of ability. The states of the surrounding energy seem to be easier to sense, much more apparent. Something that goes beyond the subtle tingle on the skin on a cold dry evening or the scent of someone burning leaves and the charge it elicits that tends to bring out ones senses even more.

Does the season change from Summer to Fall and then to Winter, bring with it a greater awareness of natures energy or of the energy of others around us? How does this difference vary for you if you believe it does at all?

Peace>

For me in the colder months it just feels like everything in me awakens.
I feel more alert to everything around me. I think I see nature for what it truly is in the fall then I do in the spring or summer. For me it's like truly seeing nature's magic in the fall. All the smells and sounds of the leaves blowing around and the crunch of the leaves under your shoes on a sidewalk. I've noticed since I was a young child that autumn is a time when I feel spiritually and physically different. It's like spiritually and physically and mentally I'm more healthy, I'm more in sync with everything around me including energy. When I was a child, I had to walk home from school every night. In the late summer, I hated walking, then Fall would come around and instead of taking me 15 minutes to walk home, It would take a half hour or 45 minutes cause I just loved being out amongst nature and the energy that would engulf me. At the time, being a child I didn't realize what I was experiencing, I was aware of it, but didn't understand it.

But now, with the climate changes and everything, here, we're going more into what they call Indian Summer, we're not having the fall weather or foliage like we did when I was a child and I'm noticing more then ever, that it's also affecting me a great deal. I don't feel as in tune with everything around me like I normally should this time of year.

Sorry to hear that, Melissa Hmmm... I know I feel more alive and charged in the fall and spring seasons. The cool air has alot to do with it- it opens up your lungs so that your able to breathe better. Time outside with nature is alot more intuned and enjoyable, also.  Good Posting!

I agree with Melissa, with the sense of feeling energetic during the fall.

There is a lot of inconsistency this "fall," sadly.  It is like there is a four days where you actually feel it being fall, and then the weather tries to maintain status quo, and suddenly tries to bounce back to being summer.  When it is cool, I feel more energetic and able to go further than when it is very hot.  In fact, when it is too hot, it causes frustration more than anything and instills a "I do not want to do it" feeling in me.

Sincerely,

I love Fall. I tend to have the same reaction as Melly does. It just feels so good to be out in the warm/cool weather. Taking in the crisp air and the colors, I am just in awe. I feel so alive, like being out on a warm night for me. I live for the night and the fall season.

I love the fall as well. I am a Summer and Fall person. I feel the same as Mel, but during both the Summer and Fall. The odd temperatures actually were better for me. But I feel bad that it has a negative affect on my friend. The physical nature of my being makes me more adaptable to the seasons I don't prefer than others are. And I would prefer things were better for others.

True fall is a good time. In Indian summer this year its warmer. every year the elders in the town like to go to the powwow grounds to enjoy the weather and be with family, but this year there wasn't any, the heat was a little too much for them. the temperature is getting too hot for them. though they are standing on their land stronger than ever.

I prefer winter. The cold air awakens me almost fully.
One winter long time ago (age 9) I had this cool experience-
I was outside late at night (my parents were out and my older bother the babysitter had friends over so I went outside to get away).I just sat in the snow by the forest watching the moon. I liked how the snow reflects the moonlight (like seeing so much crystals), the trees looked like a dark ink blue, and the sky so clear. then I drew a lot of pictures of stories in the snow. (explain it the best I could). I was a child then. I imagined about a lot of things. I was out for two hours and once I did go in my bother never noticed me, the next day I caught a nasty cold.
At that moment I knew I was at peace, I will never forget that night. whenever I feel down I remind myself of that night.

My energy is at a higher level during fall. In the fall I feel like I get to reap everything that I have worked so hard for throughout the year. My gardening is finished and I have stored all my vegtable from my garden. So there's a sense of achievement that I have received from nature.
Fall brings to me a sense of peace and rest. And of course Mother Nature at it's best, preparing everything for the winter. A long restfull sleep for some of natures best. I think all of this adds to my energy level. Mother Natures always is an awesome way to take in energy.
Also, others have a lower level of energy compared to the summer. They are running at a slower pace now.

Fall is my favorite season as well. I love the chill in the air and the smells and sights.

I feel things sort of "settle in" for the winter. The energy is getting slower, more settled. It's as if everything is bedding down and getting ready to sleep.

I wonder if people feel differences depending upon the region in which they live? I live in the Midwestern U.S. so we have very cold winters approaching.

I live in the White Mountains in Arizona. It gets really cold here in the winter and we get lots of snow as well. All the aspen leaves have turned and have started to fall. We have had a few nights drop into the 20's already so this adds to the wonderful feelings of the season  Grin
