Replying to a topic on our sister site, DE, got me thinking. I would like to know what everyone here thinks shadow people are?

I would like to hear that as well. lol
I know there are many theories on their nature.

I have seen them a few times and have had two different ones show up in my home from time to time.
One is tall and definitely human shaped (it seems specifically male) and runs down my hallway.
The other is short and of a more indistinct form.

The one seems as if it is not aware of me, ignoring me as it runs down the hall.
The other almost seems like it likes to startle me, because it will appear close to me wherever I happen to be.

I see no features or eyes as some have reported. No hat either (as is sometimes reported).

I have often wondered the true nature of these shadows.
I tend to discount the theories that they are demonic in nature because I have felt no threat whatsoever from them (other than the startle factor Tongue).

I have begun to wonder if they are some sort of bleed-over from another dimension. If there are many dimensions (as the string theory of physics seems to show), this seems to me to be a reasonable explanation.

They do look and "feel" quite different to me than other spirits or ghosts I have experienced.

In other words: I wish I knew. Tongue All I can say is what I think they aren't. I would be interested in what you think they are, Bobby.

I guess I should have written my experiences and ideas. Grin

I have encountered 4 distinctly different types. 3 at Waverly and 1 in the old American Standard building. At Waverly I have seen shadow apparitions. There are hundreds of them there at any given time of activity. They block light and have a basic human form. These are most likely either spirits of former patients or just residual energy of patients which still walks the halls. Then there is the large entity. This is a huge black mass about the size of a large NFL linebacker. This thing is blacker than the darkest night and very cold. It moves about freely and changes floors every so often. Neither my red nor my extremely bright 5mW green laser will penetrate this thing. It also gives off some very negative vibes. It is my belief this is a non human entity, probably of a negative nature, that was drawn there by all of the suffering. It may very well be holding other spirits prisoner there. Also in Waverly are shadow people like you described. Human shaped but very tall. Up to 7-8 feet.

At American Standard I saw an entity that was human shape. But it was as black as the black mass at Waverly. It had a head, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, etc. But no distinct facial features. It popped it's head out from behind a column and looked at us. Then shortly after it ran to another column. I can't put in words how cool that was to see.

John Zaffis has reported black masses in demonic haunting cases. Heidi Hollis, probably one of the leading experts on shadow people, thinks they are related to UFOs. I think there are several different entities that are all falling under the shadow person umbrella. They could possibly be ghosts, demons, aliens, inter dimensional beings, residual hauntings, masses of negative energy that have bonded together and formed some type of intelligence, and possibly some type of life we do not yet understand. And that is not even getting into the Hat man.

Very interesting Bobby.

I thank the Gods that I haven't run into the Hat Man yet!

Well I'm sure Bobby will have more information than I, but the Hat Man appears to be a type of "shadow person" that is often seen as wearing a hat and long coat (just the shape). I have also heard of them having glowing red eyes.
Apparently the people who have seen them (from their stories) has felt quite threatened by these beings.

If you Google "the Hat Man" you will find many accounts of them. Smiley

Bobby, where are you? lol

You pretty much got it all Poppy. No one really knows what they are, or he is if it is one entity appearing at multiple places at the same time. There are a lot of people who feel the hat man is the devil himself. Here is a link to Heidi Hollis' site with a drawing and in depth write up. Click the hat man link on the left.

I know I have heard many say that the Hat Man is a Demonic entity.

Edit: I just read the link that you provided Bobby.  I have a question for you: do you personally believe all shadow people to be evil as the writer states?
