Are there any female shadow people. I ask because when I was maybe 10 I was sleeping and woke up to a black shadow at the bottom of my bed. I don't know why but I thought it was a female presence. It was holding my ankles tight. I couldn't move or scream. It freaked me out and I never said anything about it. I just figured I was just dreaming. Now I know I probably wasn't.

No I don't believe they are all evil. Some are good, some are bad, and some just are. Some have been reported in demonic hauntings. Some have been seen wandering the halls of Waverly hills. There are too many different entities under the same blanket title.

There are female shadow apparitions. But I have always heard what are considered the shadow beings as always being male. Angela, what you experienced as a child is called old hag syndrome. One of 2 things happened to you. Both of these possibilities are valid, so it will be up to you to decide which fits best. The first is sleep paralysis. It has been know to make people feel as if someone was in the room with them. And it paralyzes the body as a part of the dream state to keep the body from moving and hurting itself. It is also theorized that this could be part of an out of body experience keeping the body still for the same reasons.

The other possibility is that there was an entity actually holding you down and feeding off of your energy and possibly your fear. The entities are always female and considered negative entities for obvious reasons. A google search will turn up info on both scenarios. I can look for you later if you would like and point you toward sites that seem to have more accurate info.

Well I read up on the two and the "Old Hag" syndrome still doesn't quite fit. It was a shadow a very distinct female shadow and it was at the bottom of my bed. I could hear everything around me but I just couldn't do anything. I'm glad it only happened a couple times in my life.
I will have to pay more attention to my surroundings. Sounds like shadow people are seen quite often.
What an awesome topic thanks Bobby!

I am glad you guys like it. But I am hoping everyone will share a theory. Even if you just form one from reading things on the net. I would love to hear ideas.

Here's what I've written about them so far.

Appearance: Looks like a shadow that's shaped like a man, sometimes with glowing eyes, which are always red, but other than that they have no features. Most seem to be tall, around 7-8 feet, but I've heard of them being smaller. Some accounts say that they've seen one wearing a hat, but I've yet to see this myself (Knock on wood, it's probably a good thing) They range from giving a gas-like form to a solid, and most seem to be 2-D, but they can be 3-D (which is what I normally see) and they are able to shape shift.

Temperament: THE MOVE -VERY- FAST!! Most people only get to catch a glimpse or two of them, which they seem to prefer. Few panic if you do see them. They are known to give off a grim or menacing aura and to attack or chase people. They seem to be able to acquire information and listen/respond to the people around them. Shadow People don't give off a feeling of being alive at some point like a ghost does. Also, on a somewhat amazing note, they seem to have a personality and some form of sympathy? They are mind boggling.

Location: They are said to reside anywhere, mostly in homes though. They "glide" along walls and seem to gather in commonly traveled areas, such as hallways and family rooms.

Extra: When they pass through you, you "black out" temporarily, like when you've stood up too quickly and you feel like you're suffocating. They also seem to be studying us.

I want to find out more of this topic. I remember in episodes of Scooby-Doo, they would come across a few of them. When I would see them, I would disregard it as my eyes playing tricks on me because I saw it on tv

I'm still a little confused on the term "shadow people". Are they ghosts and if so what classification are they under (apparition, poltergeist, etc.)? Or are they just energy that looks like people?

Both Blue. Shadow people has become a blanket term for several different entities. Go back and read some of my earlier posts in this thread for better clarification.
