A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages.

Anyone here besides me who's addicted to them?

Just finished the third in the series, and am anxious to start the fourth.

Harry Dresden is a wizard (he says so, right in the phone book!) in Chicago, who helps the Special Investigations segment of the local police force solve crimes commited by supernatural means.

I find his wisecracks absolutely hilarious!

I haven't read the books. But I have been following the series on SciFi. I like it. Very cool show. I bet the books are even better.

They are.

The show is (very) loosely based on the books. I've only seen one episode and the last few minutes of another.

I've also seen a little bit of the show, but have not read the books. The show seems okay, but I haven't been able to sit down and watch a full episode yet, plus Blood Ties is on that the same time, but lately I haven't even been watching that.

I wasn't sure I'd like the show, so I hadn't gotten around to watching it until a friend of mine told me he'd seen several at another friend's house and knew I'd love them.  I started recording them on the DVR (which is the only way I won't miss them...lol) and got hooked, I really like the show (and am very annoyed that they're not showing reruns while the season is off, I was hoping to catch the ones I'd missed before I started watching).  I only found out by seeing the author's name go by on the credits that they were based on a series of books, so I bought the 6th (they didn't have the first five...lol) at the bookstore and have started it, and I like it so far.  I managed to find the first 8 in ebook form about a week ago, so between that and the 14 Laurell K. Hamiltons I also got on the same day also as ebooks, I have a LOT of catching up to do!  Smiley  I'll go ahead and finish the 6th (Blood Rites) in regular paperback form first, though, since I've already started it....coincidentally enough, he's dealing with a family of vampires in this one...lol....

Oh yeah... vampires in the series! (Werewolves introduced in the second book, hint hint.)

I do hate that no matter what court they are from, they HAVE to kill. But, just a little quibble, and they are Jim's work- he can write whatever the heck he wants! I will still read and love it.  Grin

Oooh!  Werewolves!!  I love werewolves, I can't wait to read that one!  Smiley  I agree, I wish they didn't all have to kill, but like you said, it's his story!  Smiley  That's one reason I've liked a lot of the newer vampire stories I've been finding lately, they can feed without killing and aren't automatically evil, which is a nice change!

I have Storm Front but haven't read it yet, because I'm reading the Illiyad for school, and got sidetracked by new comic books.

Ah, the first book in the series.

What really hooked me was the main character's blend of intelligence, chivalry, and irreverence. The first few books do have their strengths, but the series definately gets better as it progresses.

I've never read the books, but I so enjoyed the tv show. I wish they didn't take it off the air.

Is it off the air for good? I hope not.  I liked the show too.
It seems like when I like a television show it's the kiss of death. *sighs*

I am so bummed that they have canceled the show (at least that is what I read). I had heard it was a hit. *shakes head*

I will have to try the books.
