I saw this thread over at DE and decided to steal it! lol

Has anyone experienced their pets returning from the grave to pay them a visit?
What are your experiences with this? Do you believe this can happen or do think there is a rational explanation for this?

My experience:

I have experienced this myself.  My first beagle I had, Zoe has a tendency to show up from time to time. Both of my dogs will be near me and sound asleep, but I can hear those little paws walking around in the kitchen, it's happen a couple of times. Also, I've been laying in bed and have felt a presence near me and I immediately some how know it's Zoe. I can't explain how I know, I just do. She use to sleep next to me every night. And at times, because of the way she passed away, when she comes around I'll immediately feel some sadness.

I have never experienced this. But I believe it to be possible. I know Joshua P. Warren should have a book out about this subject by now. He is an investigator in North Carolina who has some interesting theories with a lot of lab work to back them up.

I do think animal spirits could explain growling evps. Most researchers automatically assume the growling is from negative entities or demonic spirits. But it very well could just be the spirit of a good dog still watching over it's home as it did in life.

I am sure they exist.  I have been visited by a few of my passed pets.  When I am working in the cattery I sometimes hear the shift of hooves and a snort from the empty stable.  I have not ridden since my beloved horse of 34 years passed away.  We were so strongly connected, I know he waits for me further down my path.  And my little Min Pin which I lost to cancer just this year is still following me around the farm at night.  I catch glimpses of her in the shadows from time to time.  I can feel her, she was my constant companion for 14 years.  I am devastated without her, but when I feel ready I will go to the shelter and find another companion.  I am sure Buttons will have a paw in that also!

Well if people have issues crossing over, seems to me that animals could have the same problem. Although I have not encountered something like that. It interest me all the same.

My husbands last apartment (before we got married) had a little gray spirit cat that lived in the neighbor hood, his name was "Mr. Frisky". I could only see him out of the corner of my eye, but he loved coming around Yule time. He use to like to sit by our tree. I think he loved looking at all the colored lights. Unfortunately, I found out later after my husband moved, that poor Mr. Frisky’s spirit got torn apart by some kids that were playing around with necromancy and didn’t really know what they were doing.
If you're gonna play with something, make sure you know what you're doing first. Just because spirits aren't still physically living on this plane, doesn't mean they're not alive.

This is terrible! It's the people who play with fire that just begged to get burned!

But back to the subject at hand.

I lost both of my beloved familiars at the same time last February. Duchess ( a wolf hybrid)had severe arthritis and had to be put down. And Cricket ( border collie) was found to have terminal breast cancer. They were put down on the same day, in the same room, at the same time. ( our vet had taken care of them for 5 years and felt it was the right thing to do.)

I still feel both of them with me from time to time. Especially Duchess. She was never one to be inside, but she patrols the backyard on a regular basis and I have felt her presence in threatening situations. She is still my rock. And I hope that any dog I get from here on out will be able to deal with her presence because I hope she stays for along time.

I have not experienced any of my own pets coming back. I have sometimes had glimpses of what I feel are ghosts of animals.
One in particular was a form of a black cat. I have no idea why it was around or who it was attached to.

I have not experienced any of my pets coming back either, but then again I'm in the wrong place. My 3-legged black cat and my mom's dog died while I was in jail. They died at her house and I live in Tampa now, but when I go to visit her again, if I sense anything, I'll let everyone know.

I have never experienced this although I wish I would. I have had lots of pets but once they are gone, they never visit. I do believe this can happen. If it happens with people I don't see why not pets. I believe they have souls too.

When I was very little, we used to have a lot of outdoor cats.

One year there was an infection that spread like wild fire through the entire neighborhood, and pretty near all the kittens died from it.  Even several of the adults died.   It wasn't found out what the infection was, or if it was, the adults never told us kids.

But for the rest of the year, in the early mornings when the kittens normally would have been very active, you could hear kittens crying and their mothers calling back to them.    But most of the mothers had died with their litters.

So it was a rather creepy year, that year.   I can't stand cats not being well-taken care of and ignored, for that reason.

In order for there to be a re-birth, something has to die first.  Apparently, this past summer it was my turn to be re-born.
