This article is from Spain.

For the second time in as many years Arico has been the scene of strange rituals and the profanation of a number of tombs situated in the oldest part of its cemetery.

Early morning visitors discovered to their horror that three tombs were stained with blood and the ground around them scattered with corn as if some kind of dark satanic rite had taken place upon them.
Local people have been outraged by the incident and are calling for more vigilance, more security measures to keep unauthorized nocturnal visitors out and more lighting in the area.
There was an outcry in the wake of the last incident last year when a tomb containing twins was profaned. Those familiar with supernatural beliefs claim the targeting of such a memorial was a sure sign of witchcraft or voodoo activity.
At that time the mayor undertook to look into the cemetery’s security, but nothing was done

Ugh...  I dislike it when things like this occur.  No wonder people give Pagans a bad name when the word "ritual" is said!

It reminds me of an article I read on some stray pagans, as I call them, performing scary rituals in the cremation grounds, when the rituals I have read involving such things seemed less...demanding.

I know that Kali devouts, some of them, do meditate in cremation grounds so they can reflect on the theme of detaching from body pleasures over time, but that is really all I know.  I have heard more extreme things being done, but from questionable sources that just make me think of the Cult of Thugee (who were not Hindus anyway).

Sincerely,

Desecration of any form on graves or memorials is the lowest form of disrespect.  Personally, I hope the appropriate authorities find the individual(s) responsable before the local population does.  But then again............

Or perhaps the entities associated with those graves will do something.

Or perhaps they will experience a...

 EEK!

...And retire to a monastery or convent to atone for their sins.  MWAHAHAHAHA!

That is, if they do not have to deal with the sisters.

Spanish people especially the older generation tend to be very superstitious. I know this because I am Spanish and my family who came to the States from Spain are very naive in this matter. A lot of these people still don't understand that Pagans or Witches are totally different than Satanists. This could very well be a bunch of kids out to get rumors started in their small villiage.

It is sad to see a mark being put on a group of people (Pagan/Witches) that would never do something like that

I agree with you, Alwaysnight, many, many people do still link Satanism with witchcraft/Paganism, because that is what they are taught. I know when I was younger and didn't know any better, thats what I thought, also. Alot of people are raised to believe in the Christian god(good) and are taught that anything else is that of the devil/ Satan(bad). Unfortunatley, alot of people do believe that being a satanist means that you worship the devil , which is not true. Sad, sad, sad. Alot of people don't even take the time out to read or research other religions to see what they are really about, instead, they would rather just except what they have been taught and live in ignorance. These people are the ones who are quick to judge others.

I think desturbing anothers grave is very disrespectful to the family that is still living and to the dead all around. It does cause confusion  and misrepresents other religions as well.  Angry

I have know a few Satanists and Luciferians and most would hate the idea of desecrating a grave.
Another thing, there are apparently many types of Satanism.

I agree with you London: education would go a long way in dispelling the misconceptions that are out there.

Probably a bunch of idiot kids who like their Death Metal too much.  I hope decent Pagans don't get dragged into this.
