I've just finished watching Mr Brooks and have to share.

First let me state for the record, I am by no means a Kevin Costner fan.  I think the last movie I watched with him in it was Water World and that was enough for me.  Mr Brooks however was delightfully twisted.  The plot is as follows:  Kevin Costner plays a character by the name of Mr Brooks (go figure).  Mr Brooks is a loving husband and father of a college age daughter and owns a very successful box factory (yes thats right ladies and gentlemen boxes).  After being voted the man of the year by the local chamber of commerce, Mr Brooks begins to be visited by an old friend of his, his alter ego, a split personality who has a penchant for killing perfect strangers.  As luck would have it Mr Brooks is a serial killer and the hunt is on.  Enter Demi Moore the street wise cop who has been tracking the "Thumb Print Killer" for a number of years.  I won't get into her role as a cop and personally think they could have done better in this department but nobody's perfect.

All in all I was very much entertained and quite amused with the dry humour between Mr Brooks and his imaginary friend.  There area few other twists that I won't get into either it makes the movie that much more enjoyable.

I give this movie a thumb and a half up out of two thumbs (which is in no way intended to insult anyone who may have only half a thumb. It's a phrase I've been using for years).  Below is the official MGM synopsis.  Enjoy.

All human beings... are commingled out of good and evil.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Consider MR. BROOKS. A successful businessman. A generous philanthropist. A loving father and devoted husband. Seemingly, he's perfect. But Mr. Brooks has a secret — he is also the notorious Thumbprint Killer and no one has ever suspected it — until now.

Academy Award winner Kevin Costner stars as Earl Brooks, a man who has managed to keep his two incompatible worlds from intersecting by controlling his cunning alter ego (Academy Award winner William Hurt). Neither his wife (Marg Helgenberger) or daughter (Danielle Panabaker) could conceive of the truth. But as Mr. Brooks succumbs to one more murderous urge, an amateur photographer (Dane Cook) witnesses the crime. Suddenly Brooks finds himself trapped in the twisted agenda of an opportunistic bystander, as well as hunted by an unorthodox and tenacious investigator, Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore). Now, a terrifying game is unfolding where desire is dark, knowledge is deadly and the man who has everything has everything to hide.

I really enjoyed this movie. The twist in the movie made it all the more fun. What threw me off was Demi's roll... I didn't like the way the character was portrayed and they could have done so much more with her...  Undecided
