OK Mel you said we could discuss anything....
I was just wondering from those of you who are of leagal drinking age, what is you favorite beer and what is it about it that you like?
I am in the process of making a new batch and need something new to try. Normally I prefer red wine but since I am now able to brew my own beer I can make it as strong and bitter as I want. So now I like beer a little better and don't have to pay outrageous prices for the better ones.
So far I have found that I like a German beer named Spatean Optimator Dopplebock. It is Rich and leaves a earthy after taste.
So tell me what yours is...I hope that didn't sound like a commercial!

I didn't notice the commercial sounding part until you mentioned it Laughing
I have kind of a sweet tooth, I like my Bacardi Silvers and Smirnoff Ices (gasp) I've said way too much already. I drink Bud and Bud select occasionally, I don't care for overly bitter beers, or light beer. I read a quote once, "Light beer is for people that can't stand the taste of regular beer."

OOH OOH! I'm coming over! Get a batch ready!  Laughing
Seriously though, I love microbrews way better then the stuff on the market.
But, if I'm gonna drink a beer from the market, I usually go for something like Killians Irish Red or RedHook's Winterhook or a light ale by other companies. No Bud or Coors for this girl, no way! ICK! And no cans! I get terrible headaches from can beer.

eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww cans!
Hey that isn't a bad idea, Killian's does sound really good right now. They have a local microbrewery downtown and from what I heard, its pretty good. I would really like a Guinness, but that would be a little too heavy right now.

Oh the wonderful nectar from St. James Gate! I'm a charter member of the 1759 Society and have been for many, many years, and for myself, theres not an ale or a beer on any counter that would turn my head, but a Guinness? That would turn my head, and steer my hand to its location.  Smiley

Peace>

Nothing beats a Guinness.
