Not like the writers are asking for much. And they are entitled to it. The writers don't get royalties from the sale of shows on DVD either. The greedy studios need to get over it already. We will be facing reality TV hell if this goes on.

I have an idea.. how about turning the TV off and reading a good book?

I read a lot normally, but when my grandpa died and the subscribtion of National Geographic ran out, I started watching it on tv. Tv has its ups and downs.

While I understand that everyone should earn their share for what they do, I think this Strike has gotten a bit ridiculous.  As noted many times before in the thread, people are hurting over it now.  And while I sympathize with the writers, I cannot help but feel that they - even to a small degree - are acting as greedy as the studio executives.

Of course, I also have it beaten into my head that writing does not make much money in the first place; a lot of writers that I know of - even best sellers - are English teachers or something else for a living; and someone should only do it if they are willing to make a comfortable living at best, or get a second job to make a living.  I suppose someone who is trying to make a novel is different from a screen writer.  But still: unless you are in the 5% population of writers that do make money off their work, you are not expected to make much money.  The first piece of advice that I seen almost all writers give to their fans and inspiring writers is this: "If you want an easy way to make money, you are best doing something else for a living."

In the end, they should all figure this out and leave it be before more damage is done.

Sincerely,
TheRadiantSeraphim

On the positive side, the writers strike may soon be over. It was said that even if everybody goes back to work this week, it will be another two weeks before we see any new shows.
