This is the only thing so far I've been able to find on it.

Heath Ledger found dead in NYC

By TOM HAYS, Associated Press Writer 11 minutes ago

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

The Australian-born actor was an Oscar nominee for his role in "Brokeback Mountain" and has numerous other screen credits.

This is indeed sad news. I heard rumors of him having a substance problem. But I never heard that it was confirmed. He was in a lot of movies that I really enjoy, A Knights Tale, The Patriot, The Order. He will be definitely missed. He was too young and too talented.

There's all kinds of reports floating around, I've been trying to get as much info as I can, cause I was a fan of his work.  It's been reported that he had pneumonia when we died and that there was sleeping pills near his bed. It's also been reported that he was having trouble sleeping after filming the upcoming new Batman movie and the Bob Dylan movie.
Either way, he's gone way too soon.  Cry

The story I heard last was that he had talked of having sleep issues for quite some time.
They say there was Ambien and Benedryl near him and that he may have been trying to get some sleep and the Ambien hadn't worked so he took a bunch of Benadryl.

There is no proof of anything yet. They will be doing the autopsy tomorrow and toxicology will show details. Sometimes it takes a while to get toxicology reports back, however.

Autopsy came back inconclusive, so now we wait the 10 days for the toxicology report. The news is reporting he was shooting a movie and only getting about 2 hours sleep. He also had pneumonia and they think having that might have had something to do with it too.

I heard doing The Joker stressed him out too much.  He couldnt shut the character's thoughts off.  Woody Harilson had that problem when he did Natural Born Killers.

A letter published in the 24 January 2008 edition of the Wichita Eagle:

Loss of A Hero

A hard day it is when you tell the world's smallest fan that his hero
died on Jan. 22. My son, who is almost 6, idolized Heath Ledger.
Yosiah watched "A Knight's Tale" five times a day for two weeks
during his hospital stay when he was diagnosed with leukemia in March
2005. Writing to Columbia Pictures in June 2006, I had hoped to let
the directors and actors know how much my boy loved that man.
Columbia sent back the letter, unopened. After that, it haunted me
that I need to contact Ledger and tell him how much we were grateful
that he kept us alive in those first two weeks.

My son has begged for every movie he is allowed to watch that
included the actors from that movie. Yosiah talks of Ledger as his
closest friend. The Make-A-Wish Foundation made a castle playhouse
for my son, but he treasures his framed studio photo of Ledger the
most. We have never mourned an actor like Heath Ledger.

Penalosa, KS

In early 2006, through my involvement with the Chivalry For Children program, I was fortunate to have participated in the "Playcastle Unveiling" event for Yosiah Smith which was hosted by the Make A Wish Foundation. The absolute joy on that sweet lad's face when he received the autographed image of Mr. Ledger is indelible on my memory.

A lot of good was done that day....

I was a fan of his, also. This is definitley a tragedy. I heard that he had been depressed for quite sometime and that drugs were the reason, but that was said shortly after everyone had found out. I guess we will wait and see what the outcome of the toxicology report is.  Undecided

And that is why you never take more than two prescriptions at any given time.   OH MY!

*sighs*   Rest in peace!

Very sad. It also goes to show that fame and fortune are not all they are cracked up to be. Hopefully he is at peace now.
