I have the opportunity to go ghost hunting this weekend with a local paranormal research group.  I'm all excited.  Actually their exploiting me due to the fact that I have access to some really expensive hi tech equipment that they don't have but hell, exploit away, I'm game.  We're going to be checking out an old jail.  It was host to the last hanging in Canada way back when and has since been converted into a hostel.  Yes you too can sleep in a cell.  Anyway, the location has been reported to have seen allot of activity over the years, sounds, smells, etc.  I can't wait it's going to be great, even if we don't get anything.

I most definitely will.  Here is a link to some information found on Wikipedia about the Gaol.

Did I mention I'm excited.   Tongue

Oh how cool. You will have a great time.

Let your eyes become accustomed to the ambient light. It will be easier to spot movement than with a flash light. Let us know how it goes.

Wow! How exciting. Smiley

Bobby is right about the flashlights. It is much better if you are in the dark to let your eyes become accustomed to the dark if you can. You can see farther.
With a flashlight you only see what is right in the light.

note: I did not learn this ghost hunting, but being out in the country with no outdoor lights. Wink

That is very cool, have fun. Sleeping in a cell? I had that experience a few times, not be choice though Laughing

My eyes are weird I guess, I can see in complete darkness without a flash light, once my eyes adjust to the complete darkness of course. My mom used to say I can see in the dark like an owl

Oh man Raphael you are so lucky!! It sounds like a blast. It's nice of you to let them use your stuff.
The last time I was in an old jail was when I went to work with my dad back in the early 80's. I still remember the smell of the place. I love it!

The smell of paper, metal, leather, ammunition, cement and moisture from the walls just takes me back Roll eyes It's just something I grew up around and relate it to many "adventures" with my father and his job.
But yes, strange is hitting it on the nail.
Good luck and enjoy!

I think I'm hooked!

Well lets see! Where to start. As you know I was given an opportunity to do some paranormal investigation this weekend past.  We showed up at the Gaol at approximately 8 pm and had a really informative tour of the location and the history behind the place.  Despite it being open to the public, and really close to where I work, I have never actually been in it.  I've only heard the stories, however, I was excited to say the least.  After the tour we set up some cameras and I was given a crash course on the equipment that I wasn't familiar with. When that was done I gave crash courses on the equipment I supplied, as it's not the run of the mill civilian stuff.  Once all was good to go, we started our walk around.

Most of you know about my empathy, which, I have for the most part thought I had a grip on.  Well turns out I think I need a better grip.  I'm not sure if it was the empathy thing, the excitement, nervousness or what, but as soon as I walked in I started to feel uneasy.  Not a spooky there be ghosts here uneasy, just a restlessness and pit of the stomach uneasy.  That was just inside the door.  After a while I got used to it on the lower levels but knew it was still there.  During the tour we spent a little time, approximately 10-15 minutes in death row.  Here the uneasiness changed, from unsettled to down right nasty, but I stifled it a little longer.  I'll get into specific feelings in a second.  No Bobby I'm not loosing my mind, that happened along time ago J.  Anyway.  Once the investigation was under way, we could hear all sorts of weird wonderful stuff, which did wonders to settle my stomach.  I pushed everything I initially felt aside and was like a kid in a candy store.  I wanted to know where every little sound was coming from, same with the cold spots.  You could actually HEAR things, it was amazing.  I've seen it on TV, but have never actually experienced anything like it in person.

We wandered around the lower levels for a few hours, and then I was taken back up to death row.  This is where things started to fall apart for me.  As soon as we reached the landing between the 7th and 8th floor, I started to feel multiple emotions all at once.  On the 8th floor there are 4 larger cells located away from the rest by fortified double doors.  This is where death row was located.  I mean the feelings on the rest of the floor were powerful enough but this particular area was nuts.  I could feel anger, rage, hate, depression, and extreme, and I mean extreme despair.  None of these feelings are new to me by any stretch but I've never felt anything like this.  And at one point I had to wipe my eyes several times, it was overwhelming.  Yes I was trying not to cry damn it, there you happy? J.  As it turns out I wasn't the only one who was having a breakdown another researcher had to leave the infirmary because she felt like throwing up.

Despite the fact that I had a minor melt down on the 8th floor.  I think the night went really well.  I had a great time and made some new friends who are more that happy to exploit my equipment and my empathy (I didn't tell anyone when we started but kinda had to after my psychotic episode) on future investigations.  Personally I can't wait.  I do know now that I have to work on controlling my talents.  So I guess I'll have to be selective on the locations for the time being.  I could go on a lot longer but I guess I'll leave it at that for now and I'll take any questions you may have.  It was quite an experience though.

I'm anxious to get Bobby's take on the whole feelings deal.
