Canon announced the new camera in the Rebel line up today, the Rebel Xsi/450D. This is big news to me as The Canon Rebel line is my preferred weapon of choice due to my smaller hands. The bigger camera bodies wear out my petite little fingers after a while. Although for some of the features on the larger camera bodies I may have to get used to it one day.

The following is from DP review
Quote
Pre-PMA 2008: Canon has today announced a new compact digital SLR, the twelve megapixel EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi). On the surface a very similar camera to the EOS 400D, however there are a range of significant improvements; twelve megapixel CMOS sensor, 3.0" LCD monitor, Live View with both AF modes (contrast-detect and passive), 14-bit processing and RAW, spot metering, improved AF, 3.5 fps continuous shooting, a larger viewfinder, SD/SDHC storage and a new higher capacity battery. All in all a fairly impressive range of usage oriented improvements and refinements.

I always wanted a digital SLR since they came out on the market. I love my old SLR, but I'm terrible at getting the film processed! lol

I never really developed a fondness for Canon's.  Maybe because I have big hands  Grin.  I like my Nikon D80.  I'll have to read up on this one.

This camera probably a little bigger than a D80. Both Canon and Nikon have bodies much bigger than the Rebels/D80s. In the Canon line the 40D, 5D, and 1D series. In the Nikon line the D200, D300, D2 and D3. Also either brand has battery grips for adding extra size to the bodies. So Raph will be good to go. Grin

All of the major brands make excellent DSLRs. Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Pentax, and Sony make great cameras.

This looks to be a great addition to the Canon lineup.
