Apparently a tornado touched down about a half a mile from my house in the middle of the night. We are all fine. All I remember is being woke up in the middle of the night and telling my wife too stop making so much noise. When she didn't answer I got up half a sleep to see where she was. I found her and the kids in the hall closet. Me being me said' "you left the TV on in the bedroom and what is all that racket?" Sounded like one of the planes at work for a few minutes then it stopped. Sirens stopped. Back to sleep I went. I do believe there were 7 fatalities here. And big trees across a lot of roads on my way to work at 5 am. Like driving half asleep isn't hard enough.

Wow! I really didn't hear about your area on the news last night Bobby. It's good to know everyone in your family is safe and sound!

It is good you are ok. I saw the news at school today. 68 tornados hit the south and last time I checked, their were 50 dead. The closest it got to me was Georgia

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing.  I'm sorry Bobby, it's really not funny, BUT, the fact that they were in the closet and you were asleep in another room is a mental picture that's PRICELESS.  I'd be wondering why I wasn't invited into the closet too.

I think other areas got way more damage and had more fatalities. So they definitely needed more attention. Plus the stuff hit here at 2 or 3 in the am. May not have made the news anyway.

Raph it was funny. I was like, hey what are you guys doing in the closet?

Like Raph, my first question was why they didn't wake you up and have you join them!

Weird you posted this... I had a tornado dream early this morning.

She knows I don't panic out in storms. Normally I would go out and have a look. She probably figured I was safer in bed than outdoors. Smiley

.....

Two of those suckers touched down in Cleveland Tennessee and one in Memphis.

Apparently there was also a couple of others in my area too, they haven't been confirmed.

Yeah, I don't sleep on nights that have severe weather for some reason.   I don't find out why though until the next day.....and usually it's good news, like that nobody I know is hurt.

Good to know you're okay!!!

Yeah, Bobby, scariest night I've had in a LONG time.  I don't remember the last time we were all really huddled in the basement over a storm..well I do but I was like five.  It was so freaking scary.  The sirens started going off and me being me walked to the kitchen and yelled "is that the sirens going off"?  My dad and brother ran up the stairs, got mom out of the bed and my brother's cat and told us to go down stairs.  So I bolted and got my cat and the dog before running down as well.  We hid out in the basement as the sirens kept going out and ended up hiding in the downstairs basement.  We lost power several times.  It was the scariest thing ever and we were surrounded by them.  Lol, even Nick was terrified as I was talking to him online and had to run to the bathroom..the las thing I said to him was "Oh s*** its here!".  It was horrible.

Yikes sounds like a scary one...for your family anyway. Yep, I bet they preferred you to sleep rather than play outdoors.
I'm glad you are all fine.

I wouldn't like taking pictures or anything of it, I mean the storms are beautiful, but to me looking at photos does nothing, it just doesn't have anywhere near the same presence.
I remember it more by playing the same tune I played when watching it. (I'm kinda weird like that lol)

Weird nothing.  I'm the same way my friend.  A summer storm is what inspired me to write "Summer Storm" in my profile page.  Violin is something I always wanted to learn.  Perhaps a visit to the music store is in order.   Grin

Yeah I'm a photographer so taking photos is what I do. I probably wouldn't get much out of trying to play music. Well especially since all I can really play is a CD. Tongue But if the photo is taken right it will convey every essence of the storm. That is something I hope to capture this year. And Raph, maybe you should try taking the guitar out during the next big storm.

Yeah, everyone has their own specialty. And to Raphael, go for it. If you are used to guitar violin won't be too hard to finger, the biggest adjustment would be the change in size and using a bow instead of a pick. One thing though (I'm not sure if you knew this yet) but when choosing a violin, they come in different sizes according to the measurement of I believe the center of your palm to your elbow. The people at your local music store can probably help you more than I, but you would most likely use a full size violin.
