I will put one down for our fabulous web mistress since she does not like to actually go into haunted buildings. And this place is in her state, possibly near where she lives. The Villisca ax murder house in Villisca Iowa is easily one of the most actively haunted houses in the world. It is also one of the only places in the world that can actually give Troy Taylor the creeps. For those unfamiliar with Troy, he is a long time investigator, author of countless books, and president of the American ghost society. There is a room in the house that if you offer one of the children a piece of candy to open or shut the door, it will do so on command repeatedly. How cool is that?

It is definitely worth checking out if your ever in Iowa. Or at least a google search. That will turn up some great info on the place. But googling can't take the place of an actual visit. Mel if you ever decide to change your mind this would be a great place to start.

Well to be honest, Villisca, Iowa doesn't sound all that familiar to me, but after looking it up, I see it's in south western Iowa, Actually I think I've gone past the exit for it when I go over to Omaha. I live right in the middle of the state. So, this is like probably a hour or hour an half drive from me.  Hmm..cool, I'll have to look into it.

I found a site on it earlier and bookmarked it. I'll to look into it. I didn't think we had too much in the way of paranormal here in Iowa.  I've never really heard anything except for a bridge somewhere here in Iowa that if you pull up to it and turn off your headlights, on the side of the road you will see two red glowing eyes looking at you. But, I almost wonder if that one is just a urban legend.

Funny thing is Mel, you have one of the most haunted houses in the world there. But there are active homes/buildings everywhere.

The bridge thing is an urban legend. There is a bridge story in every state. Some states have several. One give away is if you have to honk your horn, flash your lights, get out of your car, hold your nose and hop on one foot. The paranormal doesn't require a signal. It either happens or it doesn't.
