OK, I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. .... I'm not sure at this point what to say. It was the best and the worst book I have ever read in my life.

I cried more through this book then any other I've read. We all figured she (JK Rowlings) would kill off a few of everyone's favorites. But I never expected to loose so many. War is hell, and she spared none from it's tortures. The final count: All but three Death Eaters dead. And over half of the Order of the Phoenix.

My concern at this point is how they plan to make this one into a movie that will still be rated PG-13. And at the same time not loose any of the most important parts of the story. The level of violence in this one was way above any of the others. I am not sure at this point if it will be "OK" for my five year old ( who will be 7 by the time it is released) to watch this one.

Though, on a happier note, I am very glad that she chose to include the Epilogue. It was nice to see that it wasn't all in vain.

All in all, I have to say this is a must read. Even for those who have seen the movies, but may not be "fans". And I defy anybody not to cry at least twice in this one!

Are you at the begining, that you seek the end?

SanguinL, I loved this book to DEATH. I was very sad that Rowling had to kill off almost everyone, but I liked the unexpectedness of it all. So intense and daring.. it almost hurt to trudge through all of Harry's (and everyone else's) grief and death, all the while asking questions that seemed to make a lot more sense to me at the time- but then, this is no jolly hero fantasy story. Smiley

My favorite part is when Harry goes unconscious and Albus speaks to him. And that weird baby thing! Was that part of Voldemort? I couldn't really put my finger to it (course I was busy taking in everything else lol).

I'll say now the movie will never do it justice. I can't really say any of the movies have done the books justice, save maybe the first one. But I'll never understand why they made the movies PG-13 in the first place- this is a somewhat heavy, somewhat morbid series! And of course they didn't time it like the producers of Lord of the Rings, so there's that issue... (I could rant all day but won't... lol)

Yes. The epilogue was the relaxing pinnacle of the book, and probably the whole series. I am very glad it ended like it did. And, most likely because it was surreal, I don't think I would have liked it as much with another ending.

I think I have three books... all out of order of course, but I would like to finish the collection to keep on my shelf Grin
