THE GHOST PHENOMENON has become so closely associated with the instinct of fear that it's almost a given that, if asked, most people would admit that of course they would be frightened if they encountered an apparition. Even many seasoned ghost investigators have been known to run like scared rabbits when they see or even hear something unexpected. Why? Have ghosts really earned the reputation of being harmful to humans? If you were walking unarmed in a dense tropical jungle that you know is inhabited by tigers and large snakes, you'd undoubtedly be petrified. The threat to your life and well-being is quite real and your fears justified. Tigers and snakes can and do kill. Now place yourself alone at night in a house that has the reputation for being haunted. Most people would probably experience the same fear. Yet, according to most authorities on the subject, the fear is not justified. Ghosts, by and large, are harmless. The true behavior of ghosts, as evidenced by many thousands of investigations and case studies conducted by paranormal experts, overwhelmingly contradicts the common idea that they are to be feared. Stage is set to flush out theatre's resident ghost
HE has been appearing at Edinburgh's Playhouse for 50 years, though theatre-goers are unlikely ever to catch a glimpse.
In fact Albert – the historic venue's resident ghost – has become almost as famous among staff as the stars who tread the boards.
Now a team of paranormal investigators are set to be allowed in to the Greenside Place theatre for the first time in a bid to bring Albert out of the shadows.
The investigation is being carried out as part of this year's Mary King's Ghost Fest and will involve experts from Ghost Finders Scotland camping out in backstage corridors and changing rooms to find evidence of the theatre's ghostly past.

'Haunting Villisca' movie to receive Iowa premiere
The first Iowa screening of the much-anticipated, recently completed feature film, "Haunting Villisca," which was shot on location at the Villisca Axe Murder House and in the Montgomery County Courthouse where the trials were held, will take place March 29 and 30 at the historic Rialto Theatre in Villisca, Iowa.
"Haunting Villisca" is inspired by the tragic, unsolved 1912 Villisca Axe Murders of 8 people and the present day paranormal investigations of the J. B. Moore Home where the crime took place. In one of the worst crimes of the century, J.B. Moore, his wife Sarah and their four children; Herman, Boyd, Katherine and Paul were slain in their beds by an unknown assailant. Two unfortunate child houseguests, Lena and Ina Stillinger, friends of the Moore children who were just staying the night, were also bludgeoned to death. The case intrigue included a love triangle, a business rivalry and a rumored "killing for hire" plot linked to Villisca millionaire F.F. Jones. Despite the two trials and a grand jury investigation which involved a deranged pervert preacher, the Reverend L.G. Jacklin Kelly, the Villisca axe murders remain unsolved. Alex Graves Is Set to Direct Fringe J.J. Abrams has found a director for his upcoming Fox drama pilot Fringe. According to Variety, Alex Graves will be getting behind the wheel of this two-hour telefilm which will serve as the series first episode.
The show follows the adventures of a crazy research scientist involved in paranormal mysteries. Helping him out on the cases will be his estranged son and a female FBI agent. The series has already gotten the go-ahead and will premier next year.
The script for the pilot was written before the writers' strike, so production on the two-hour project will still happen even if the strike continues. At this time, Fringe does not have a set start date. Tags: female fbi agent paranormal mysteries j abrams research scientist fringe fox drama alex pilot movieweb estranged telefilm |
