How many of us at one time or another have pulled up Google and did a search on real vampires? And looked over the results and clicking on sites that seem interesting and appear to be truthful on real vampires. There's a lot of good sites out there with a lot of truth in their content, there's also a lot of bad sites out there that claim some dangerous information on vampires and a lot of mistruths. So how does the indivdual who is just learning about vampirism come to find the good sites over the bad? Well there's a few things I look for that I will share with you. First of all, just because a site has the word Vampire/Vampyre or Blood in the name of the site or the URL of the site, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good site. This is where you need to look over the information carefully and if they have a forum, you need to look at the topics available and the responses in that forum. Any site that claims such things as real vampyre immortality or ageless vampires is obviously a bad place to start. These sites are based more on the mythical aspects and they are linking myths into real vampirism. Then there's sites that claim that there's such a thing as Royals and TrueBloods and talk of turning people or elders who are over 100 years old. There's even a site that suggests they can't tell you if you are a vampyre over the internet and suggests you go find a real vampyre and they will be able to tell you if you are a vampire or not. Now, it is quite common for a vampire to recognize another and there is some truth that no one online can tell you if you are a vampire, actually, no one can tell you if you are a vampire or not, that's something only you will know for sure. However, giving the advice of seeking out a vampire and asking them to evaluate you is a very dangerous word of advice to anyone in todays society. There's too many predators out there just waiting for some naive person to ask questions such as this. Use your common sense when looking up information on real vampires. If there's something that just doesn't seem right to you, move along to another site. A good vampire site will have information and will be willing to answer your questions in their forums or they may already have your question answered in a FAQ. Most good sites/forums will try to debunk the mythical aspect of real vampirism and won't allow such nonsense to linger in their forums. Make sure you don't have to join their house or buy a book to get information. Sites such as this should definitely be ignored, chances are they are just out to make a quick buck and never give any of your personal information to anyone online, this is not necessary for joining a site or forum. The basics may be required a valid email address, your actual age for proof that you are of age to have access to some forums, they may ask your interests, keep these simple and always give your first name only if you feel comfortable with giving them your first name. On many sites such as this one, you may use your username in the name field when joining a site or forum. Seek out as much information as possible and always question what you are reading if it just doesn't make sense. Members may discuss this article in our forums if you have more questions.
